Background

The High School of Applied Art “Odhise Paskali” in Peja was founded in 1946. Since its establishment until today, it remains the sole institution in the country dedicated to the teaching of applied arts. All the artistic professionals in our country have their roots in this school. Presently, the school offers five courses as specialized tracks in secondary vocational education: Textile and fashion design, Interior design, Graphic design, Ceramic design, and Painting direction. The school currently hosts 300 students, with 60 students enrolled in each profile.

Ceramic design direction

Currently, there are 60 students enrolled in the Ceramic Design program, with 60% of them being female. Ceramic Design has gained significant importance as a profile due to the growing interest in enrollment each year.

This program operates within two well-equipped workshops, providing an ideal environment for student development. Students in this course create a variety of artistic works, including decorative accessories, vases, dishes, sculptures, and replicas of various artifacts. Many of these replicas are on display in the Museum of Kosovo. Additionally, students from this program have actively participated in numerous exhibitions and showcased their works abroad.

However, a pressing issue has emerged regarding the lack of adequate kilns for firing these ceramic creations. Presently, students in this program are working with a small kiln that does not meet the necessary conditions for the optimal development of their skills. The absence of a suitable, larger, and regularly maintained kiln is hindering the progress and training of many students. Consequently, a significant number of their projects remain unfinished.

The purpose of the project

Considering the track record of success in the Ceramic Design course, the students’ dedication to their studies, and the goal of offering them the best possible opportunities to excel, the project’s primary objective is to acquire a new ceramic kiln.

The introduction of a new Ceramics Kiln would unquestionably enhance the quality of student training, potentially attract more students to the program, and facilitate the realization of numerous artistic projects. Furthermore, furnishing the school with this kiln would empower students to create artworks that could significantly enhance their visibility and performance in international competitions, exhibitions, and foster the growth of their professional skills.
