Mental Health Center for Children and Adolescents in Prishtina

Our team has decided to help the mental health center for children and adolescents in Prishtina. This center has been in operation since 2005 and is constantly facing many problems, mainly lack of materials needed for its functioning and treatment of patients.

The purpose of the center and the staff there is to find out the problems in raising children, treat them effectively and prevent them from returning or getting worse.

The team of this center consists of 13 people who are professional staff who are closely involved with all activities and work with children, including psychologists, psychiatrists, pedagogues and nurses.

This center receives more than 1560 patients within a month. Meanwhile, to offer them various services such as:

o   Psychiatric services (diagnosis);

o   Individual therapy;

o   Family therapy;

o   Trauma therapy;

o   Psychological assessments (tests);

o   Medication treatment; 

o   Psychotherapy;

o Academic and pedagogical service (counseling, consulation, behavioral therapy, academic stimulation, speech therapy, game therapy, group and individual therapy).

      The importance that this center has to these children is extraordinary. But, unfortunately, the assistance that institutions have provided for them is deficient. The center operates within QKUK, but staff there indicate that they have a substantial lack of the tools they need. Even some of them voluntarily provide the necessary equipment for children. 

Taki   Therefore, we have launched this initiative to help the Center and try to collect at least 500 Euros with which to buy educational materials. These materials will be identified in cooperation with the staff of this center and it is a material that enables the development of children.

Who are we?

We are some young people who in April 2018 have created a volunteering group. The name of our Super Volunteer group is “TEACH” and each letter consists of one important word – Teamwork, Empathy, Ambitious, Community and Hope.

We intend to carry out volunteer projects based on the method of volunteering education, which is a pedagogical approach that scatters volunteer work with guidance and reflection. This approach enriches the learning experience of volunteering, strengthens the sense of being part of society and contributes to the creation of civic responsibility. 

For this, we have decided, together and with your contribution, to help an important institution in Kosovo.
