Campaign Story

The “LibrameZe” platform was created based on a group of volunteers reading and recording books. These recorded books are then published on an online platform where they are accessible to visually impaired people and those having reading difficulties.

A group of young volunteers greatly affected by the inability of the education system in Kosovo, to support equality in education respectively to this margin group, have created Librameze.com platform to actualize a world without barriers in education, while reading, recording and uploading the books in the web, totally in voluntary basis.

Education Comes First in collaboration with the volunteer team has created platform www.librameze.com that will contain various educational, entertaining, adventure, comic books and many other books all read and recorded by volunteers.

The idea for the reading of books for visually impaired community has come up earlier and is supported by volunteers, where we originally thought we would create books with the Braille alphabet, but since the cost of production is extremely higher compared to audio books, also the coverage of audio books has greater scope because the same books can serve to the rest of the community and society.

The website www.librameze.com will be an online growing library offering a large variety of books one can listen to while travelling, relaxing, or simply to learn something new.

       Who will benefit from this programme?

The community of visually impaired children is our main target group. Librameze.com will be comprehensive, not limited to visually impaired community but also for children, adults who have difficulty in reading, those who wish to read but because of the socio-economic situation they cannot afford books as much as they want to, and then other communities that have difficulty understanding the Albanian language will have the opportunity to listen and thus be offered an audio-book in Albanian.

       How will we measure the success of this idea, after it is developed and tested?

Every once a month we will call 40% of the users randomly to get their feedback with survey questions about their experience, challenges and their recommendations on librameze.com platform.

The feedback will help us improve their experience, measure our platforms success and get more details about their challenges.

The Google Analytics data will tell us a lot about the users’ behavior, how much time they’re spending on our web, which regions are users visiting from and which books are the most read.

We will analyze the data to offer more of what is more likely to be consumed.

 What tools do we need to make this idea work?

We need a better web server to store the audio recordings, tools to help us optimize the audio recordings so they can load faster and better for the users and a Mobile App Development kit to further advance the platform, so users can have the audio recordings on the go.

We will constantly create and upgrade new features, including more content, sections but yet keeping it simple for the visually impaired children and adults so they feel comfortable using our platform and can experience of reading while listening the audio recorded book same as flipping the pages.

The users will be able to login on the Mobile app with only their initials and a password provided by us.

The app will offer users the accessibility feature options to find the books easier to listen, mark where they left off and get back on resume whenever they find time for.

The raised funds will contribute to: 

– The audio editing of the recorded books. 

– Obtain books copyright. 

– The development of the web platform. 

– Cover the volunteers’ expenses. 

– The development of the smartphone app.
