Who are we?

People working on this project are a group of handball enthusiasts who have come with the idea of how children can benefit from handball and vice versa. These handball volunteers, who also give their contribution at Vëllaznimi HC, are trying to create a great future for the club by creating the elementary school handball league which would be a very good place to spot young talents and involve them at the chain teams that the club has. Also this project will create competition between elementary schools and also establish a good environment for pupils to socialize.

What is our goal?

This project is based as a non-profit project, with a goal in creating a Handball school.
Handball at School is a platform which intends to involve elementary school children of 6th-9th grade in handball local league.

Involvement of children in sports has become a worrying issue, now days they are spending long time playing PlayStation games, watching TV or using smart phones which has made them very passive and most of them have health problems due to overweight. Our project tends to create a local league of handball with elementary schools in the city of Gjakova. The project will last 8 months and will include 10 elementary schools.

The main purpose of the project is to raise awareness to the pupils that sports, especially handball is very good for their health and its a very good way to socialize with others. Another purpose of the project is to find handball talents who if they show potential and will can join the academy of the club and continue their journey to be a professional handball player. This project will be a very good opportunity for young referee couples who would like to become international referee on the future.

How the project would work?

On the first part of the project two coordinators will introduce the platform of the project to each school (director, staff, PE teachers and parents of pupils) where they will create the agenda and explain duties of each participant. In this regard, the Municipal Assembly of Gjakova will be sponsoring student scholarships for young students who study sports culture and will be compensated with a symbolic fee of 50.00 euros (during the whole time of the project) per month as an incentive for the work they do with the team / school, as well as the expenses of two coordinators in total of 7200.00 euros. Each school will be provided with the needed material (handball balls, jerseys, training material etc). Each school will have two months before the school year ends to start to conduct their team. After the new school year starts in September the league will continue with the games. Each week, 5 games will take place in the Sport Palace “ShaniNushi” in Gjakova (Saturdays or Sundays) where each school will play against each other for the and try to collect as many competition points so they can have a better position in the table.
