With great pleasure we invite you on our 6th annual event: Cycle Kosovo for Children 2019. Building on the success of the events that took place 2014-2018, we are organizing another charity cycle event.

We hope that again in 2019 we will raise funds for Action for Mothers and Children, which this year we will deliver infant beds for the Neonatology Clinic in Mitrovica, Kosovo.

The Neonatology Unit in Mitrovica’s Hospital, is lacking newborn beds. Since premature babies have to stay longer at the hospital because of their prematurity and the need of intensive care, they need hospital beds to be put for safe medical examinations. In Mitrovica there are not enough beds to fulfil the needs of the patients in the Neonatology Clinic, so the premature baby has to stay in the same bed with the mother which can be very dangerous for a baby who is low in weight and premature. The use of this equipment is expected to improve the efficiency of care provided for our newborns in Mitrovica.

The challenge in 2019 will be to cycle around Kosovo, with a short diversion in Albanian in 4 days passing through many of the major cities. The total distance will be over 540 km with over 7000 meters of climbing starting from and finishing in Pristina, the route will take in the following:

Day1 (June 6th) Prishtina – Ferizaj – Brod – Prevalla

Day2 (June 7th) Prevalla – Prizren – Gjakova – Valbona

Day3 (June 8th) Valbona – Junik – Gllogjan- Peja

Day4 (June 9th) Peja – Mitrovica – Batllava – Prishtina 

The end of event fundraiser will be held at Miqt Pub (behind the Swiss Diamond) Sunday evening, June 9th, involving raffle prizes, fun, music, finger food and fundraising activities.

We are hoping to raise 1,200 Euros through KosovaIdeas so we can fund partly the purchase of the beds for the Neonatology Clinic in Mitrovica. 10% of this amount will go for the creditcard, bank transfer and platform fees.
