How to shoot a great crowdfunding video
Believe it or not, but the video plays a very important role in a crowdfunding campaign. If you want to increase your chances to success, or if you want to attract backers, you need to shoot a great campaign video. And the best part is, that you don’t even have to be a professional videomaker. All you need is a camera or a smartphone, and some tips.
Tell your story
This means your video should include the relevant subject of your campaign. The public wants to know who you are, what is your goal, why are you using crowdfunding and why do you need people’s support. Try to be as real as possible.
Introduce yourself
Keep in mind that introduction is key. It is very important for potential backers to see your face and get familiar with you. Be spontaneous. Be authentic. Be interesting and talk more about the solution other than the problem. Try also to think as a backer and find out the reasons what makes your project so special that people need to donate.
Team members
You are not alone in this, that is why you need your team member to back you up , make sure to include them in the video as well where they explain their role in the campaign and why they chose to be part of your team.
2 minutes or less
Keep it short. The longer the video, the less attention it will get. That’s why you need to make your video 2 minutes max.
Say thank you
A simple ’Thank You’ at the end of the video is enough. It will be appreciated even by the people who don’t give money, but who take time to watch the video until the end.
Clear audio
During the interview there should be no loud noise in the background, no voices or echoes. It is very important that the backer can understand what you are saying.
Background
Make sure the background of the video is not boring. It should be interesting and attract people’s attention. (if you use iPhone film horizontally and not vertically).
Put some background music
Select an audio track or original track to use as a background sound. But no copyrighted music. Mind to lower the level or even stop the music during the time.
Subtitles
Subtitles are necessary as you want also to attract international backers. English is always a most either spoken or for subtitles. The other language can be Albanian or Serbian. Make sure subtitles are clear and visible against a rather plain background (where the text will show). Either black fonts on light background or white fonts on dark background.
Make it fun
Keep in mind that the video should be funny, creative, colorful, interesting, attractive and not gloomy or boring.
Final cut/EditingTab Title
If you do not have professional experience in editing, try using iMovie or other free editing software. It’s quick and simple.
Uploading
You can upload your video on YouTube or Vimeo (we recommend Vimeo, it shows less ads).
Final!
Now you are ready to make your own crowdfunding video. Good Luck!
